Tornadoes and heavy rain included in line of severe Siouxland weather

Building damage reported at two locations

SIOUX CITY, Iowa - As KCAU 9's most accurate forecast predicted it's been an active weather afternoon across Siouxland with severe thunderstorms and even some brief tornadoes.

Chief Meterologist Fred Hexom continues to track the latest on the storm front and we begin with Meteorologist Elisa Raffa who joins us live in Matlock, Iowa in Sioux County. That's where a tornado was spotted on the ground earlier.

Our Radar shows that while we have scattered showers and storms, the severe weather is east of us in central and eastern Iowa, where tornado warnings are in the red and severe thunderstorm warnings in the yellow. A tornado watch is in effect until 7 PM.

High winds that blew through northwest Iowa's Palo Alto County Wednesday afternoon have caused some damage.

A section of the new beef technology facility at the college farm laboratory west of Emmetsburg was knocked down.
The roof and beams from a portion of that building flew several hundred feet and dented a grain bin.
Officials say no livestock were injured during the storm.
