The Green Gables Restaurant Closes After 85 Years

Sioux City, IA (ABC9 News) - The Green Gables Restaurant has shut down after 85 years of business in downtown Sioux City.

A note can be found hanging on the front door that reads, "After 85 years The Green Gables Restaurant is Closed. We have loved being a part of your lives."

The eatery located at 18th and Pierce St. was known for serving classic food, including favorites such as the matzo ball soup.

We have reached out to the owner, Jennifer Vollmer, for comment. Her grandfather, Albert Seff, opened the restaurant in 1929.
