The cost of farmland in Iowa continues to fall

For the third year in a row, the value of farmland in Iowa is on the decline

Sioux City, Iowa - For the third year in a row, the value of farmland in Iowa is on the decline.

Officials warn if weak crop prices remain, farmland values could continue dropping for a couple more years.

Iowa State University estimates the current value of an acre of farmland at roughly $7,000. That's down 17% from it's benchmark year in 2013.

Although many Iowa farmers are experiencing rough times, economists say another farm crisis is unlikely.
