April 17, 2018 - On our Tuesday we'll have mostly sunny skies. It should be a pretty nice springtime day with the high at 52° in Sioux City.
Tonight we'll slip down to 32° and a mix of rain/snow will move in. Look for a complete change over to snow early Wednesday morning.
A Winter Weather Advisory is out Wednesday for all of our KCAU 9 coverage area counties in South Dakota, much of northwest Iowa, and Dakota county in Nebraska. Snow will be at its worst during the morning hours and teamed up with a NW wind gusting beyond 30 MPH, hazardous travel conditions are expected!
Snow amounts will be limited in Nebraska and southern Siouxland. Sioux City will likely only receive about 1" of snow. South Dakota communities should look for 2-4" while NW Iowa cities will stack up 3-5" of snow. A Winter Storm Warning includes far northeastern Siouxland and in Emmet + Palo Alto counties we may have pockets of 6+ inch snowfall totals.
The good news - afternoon high temperatures tomorrow will be in the upper 30s and lower 40s with a transition into some light rain so that morning snowfall is unlikely to stick around very long.
We'll have gradually warming temperatures going into the weekend and beyond. Next Monday we should hit a high over 60°!
Have a nice Tuesday.
Today we'll have mostly cloudy skies and some rain showers…
As of right now, the snow pack above Fort Peck is right on the same…
Tim, now that we seem to finally be digging out of this Winter's snow…
