Teen charged with felony after shooting 3yr old in the face

Sioux City, Iowa - A Sioux City teen is facing a felony charge after authorities say he shot his 3-year-old sister in the face with a BB gun Monday afternoon.

According to court documents 17-year-old Adrian White shot the child in the face twice with a CO2 BB gun inside a Sioux City apartment on the 400 block of W. 3rd Street.

Police say one of the BBs broke the skin and fractured the girl's jaw. The other BB went through the skin and bone around her eye and became lodged near the girl's brain. doctors were able to surgically remove the BB in the girl's jaw, but were unable to remove the BB next to her brain because it was too risky.

Authorities say White admitted to being responsible for his sister's injuries when questioned by investigators.

White is currently charged with one count of Willful Injury. He's being held in the Woodbury County Jail.

Willful Injury is a class "C" felony in the state of Iowa and carries a maximum penalty of up to 10 years in prison and a $10,000 fine.
