SIOUX CITY, Iowa - Good news for Sioux City bowlers; after negotiations with its bank, Plaza Bowl in Sioux City announced it will remain open.
That announcement happened Thursday afternoon.
Currentally, operator Brian Atchison and his company J and B Investments partnered with Klinger Properties to buy the business from Heritage Bank.
That now saves the bowling alley, which was in danger of closing it's doors after it's original lease expired earlier this month.
Atchison says they have renovations planned between now and August.
"The secret out there is the 5,000 bowlers from the Siouxland area that we've seen come into the Plaza on the weekends, shocking even me, an avid bowler, to see the amount of bowling and the variety of bowlers from the area come in," said Atchison. "It's really exciting for them too because bowling has evolved into a recreational fun center and we're excited to be a part of it."
Bowling leagues start again in mid-August.
Plaza bowl will be open for summer hours on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights, as well as Sunday afternoons.
