May 17, 2018 - It'll be a terrific Thursday with sunshine and a high temperature of 86° following up a few isolated showers in western communities this morning. We'll have a very nice start to the Tulip Festival in Orange City! A light breeze will push in this afternoon at 10 to 15 MPH from the SSE which will help us to stay comfortable during the peak heating of the day.
Tonight we're looking for a low of 59° under a mostly clear sky.
Tomorrow will be partly cloudy with a handful of showers and thunderstorms during the daytime hours - mainly north and west of Sioux City. A shower can't be ruled out in Orange City, but the majority of the day will likely stay dry there for day 2 of the fest. Tomorrow's high will be a warm 82°.
Saturday is when we'll have widespread soaking showers and thunderstorms in the region as we cool off another notch to 74°. More rain will carry into Sunday with a high of just 69°. Rain totals may fall within the 1-2" range by the time it wraps up, so be prepared for a heavy dose of precipitation!
We'll have a warming trend occur beyond Sunday as we step back into the 70s and 80s. Skies will gradually clear out and Wednesday should be mostly sunny.
Have a great day.
