Hundreds of Siouxlanders gather for the annual St. Patrick's Day Parade in downtown Sioux City

Over 50 groups participated in this year's parade

SIOUX CITY, Iowa - This year's parade brought out hundreds of people to downtown Sioux City, where the route started on Historic Fourth and Iowa Streets, ending on Water street.

The St. Patty's Day Parade attracts families from all over Siouxland.

For many like, Jack Holton, it's tradition.

"We're from Merrill, Iowa and we're just happy to come down and see a parade of our heritage," said Holton. "We've been here before and it's really good and worth coming back. "

For some like, Marlene Hesse, it's their first time watching the parade.

"It's my first time at the St. Patty's Day Parade, I go to all of them," said Hesse. "We got part Irish in us so all the green and maybe some Irish things they might have, I don't know, I really don't know what to expect."

No matter the crowd, there was a little some thing for everybody enjoy.

"The heritage people that dress up really Irish," said Holton.

"We love dancing, we love to watch dancing," said Hesse.

Over 50 groups participated in this year's parade.
