Emmetsburg brings in thousands for St. Patrick's Day parade

An hour-long parade brought plenty of green and gold

EMMETSBURG, Iowa - It's Iowa's Irish capital and Dublin's sister city. Thousands of people line the streets in Emmetsburg to celebrate St. Patty's Day.

You'll see hundreds of leprechauns and their mini me's. It's all a part of one of the biggest celebrations of the year.

"It's a great party, neat to see all the Irish festivities," says Steve Albright, parade attendee

"He's 100 percent Irish so he's been wanting to do this for a long time. It's kind of one of our bucket lists,' says Traci Hanson, parade attendee.

With an hour long parade and no shortage of green and gold, Emmetsburg's proudest celebration is perfect for the whole family.

Jamie Perez asks ,"What's your favorite part about Saint Patrick's Day?

Kids respond, "Gold. Candy. Candy. The Candy. Not getting pinched."

JP asks, "Not getting pinched? Where's your green?"

Kid responds, "I didn't bring it."

JP says," Well you're going to get pinched!

Well the holiday can't last forever so until next year... Happy Saint Patrick's Day!
