Dr. Paul Gausman withdraws from consideration for Omaha superintendent's job

Gausman and the other finalist both withdraw in letter to school leaders

OMAHA, Nebraska - A major development Saturday night, involving the future of Dr. Paul Gausman, the superintendent of the Sioux City community schools.

KCAU9 News learned, Gausman has withdrawn from consideration for the Omaha superintendent's job.

As you'll recall, he was one of two finalists for that job, recently interviewing in Omaha.

Both Gausman and the other finalist have abruptly withdrawn, sending a letter to Omaha school leaders.

In a copy of the letter obtained by KCAU9 News, Gausman and the other finalist write, quote, "It is evident that neither of us have engendered support with the Omaha Board of Education."

The withdrawal comes as the Omaha board was set to make a decision on Monday.
