DUBUQUE, Iowa - A year ago, Sioux City political advisor Sam Clovis turned heads when he finished second to fellow republican Joni Ernst is a battle for U-S Senate. Tuesday Clovis added another highlight to his career being named national co-chair and senior policy advisor for republican presidential candidate Donald Trump. Clovis was introduced at an event in Dubuque Tuesday night.
The Morningside professor told reporters that he is excited to join the Trump campaign because Mr. Trumps can change the status quo in America.
Clovis was acting as fellow GOP candidate Rick Perry's Iowa staffer until just Monday, when he announced he was stepping down. Perry had stopped paying staffers two weeks ago citing financial problems.
Clovis says he plans to stay in Sioux City during his new role, but will be traveling when needed.
