Baconfest Coming To Sioux City

Sioux City, IA (ABC9 News) Bacon lovers, listen up!

The first annual "Pig Skin Frenzy" Baconfest fundraiser is coming to Sioux City.

Monday afternoon the Siouxland Habitat For Humanity made the big announcement in the Hy-Vee parking lot.

Bacon festivals have been gaining quite the popularity across the nation.

Last year's bacon-themed festival in Des Moines sold out in less than four minutes.

Here in Sioux City, the event will feature creative bacon dishes, live music, tailgating games and much more.

Americans For Prosperity is sponsoring the event, and proceeds will go towards Habitat For Humanity's annual fundraising campaign.

"It's so important that we're able to have fundraisers like this in our community to help support our  mission making sure that people in our community have a decent and affordable place to live,” said Katie Roberts, Executive Director of Siouxland Habitat For Humanity.

Baconfest will take place on Cctober 11 on Pearl Street from 11 a.m. until 6 p.m.

Tickets are $25.
