77th Annual Tulip Festival marches on in Orange City

Indoor activities are taking center stage as precipitation crosses Siouxland

ORANGE CITY, Iowa - Organizers of Orange City's 77th Annual Tulip Festival say they've had good crowds the first two days despite some chilly temperatures and rain.

While the festival staff had hoped for sunnier weather, they say there are plenty of indoor events in addition to the outdoor ones.

Festival goers and flower bouquets are all safe from the rain inside the Sioux County Historical Museum.
There are 123 bouquets spread throughout the museum for folks to observe.

The tulip is a flower that the dutch grew and even back in early dutch history, tulips were used as a form of exchange.

A group of volunteers put the bouquets together and they incorporate tulips in every one.

The museum is not only dutch history but also the history of Sioux County.  Clothes worn in the era are on display as well as several other historical items like tools and other historical artifacts. Pictures and stories about the dutch pioneers of Sioux County also are featured.

This museum started in a families home until it was moved to it's current location where it's been for about 15 years.
